(Almost) Mt Whiteface

Despite my first DNF, I had an amazing day in the woods with Robin. We attempted Mt Whiteface via Diceys Mill and Rollins Trail. We got just under a mile from the summit, but the icy conditions on Rollins Trail slowed us down some and although we had headlamps we opted for the safer choice of turning back once we realized we were running out of daylight hours. Robin recently had shoulder surgery and we didn't want to risk any accidents that may undo the repair work she just had done! We did 10 miles, which was by far the longest Winter hike I've done to date! Every hike is a learning experience!

Bog Mountain

Beth and I drove over to Wilmot, NH today to see some beautiful Fall Foliage. Unfortunately Mother Nature wasn't cooperating. We made the most if it and were able to get some peekaboo views of the colors on our hike. Thankfully even with the low clouds we had some gorgeous scenery on Route 4A for the drive in. Bog Mountain Trail is part of the Sunapee-Ragged-Kearsarge Greenway. Parking is roadside at the trailhead. The trail is a nice little 1 mile hike up a moderate incline to the summit. Good footing with a couple of steeper pitches. There was a lovely bench up top which I'm sure is a fantastic place to sit and enjoy the view... when there is one!
